I think a huge print would look better than a tiny one since the horse has to look like its moving, it would be more dynamic in a greater scale. I tried different looks revolving around the horse artwork and changing the background from darkly coloured to plain (just horse, no ombre). I thought I liked the first design very much cuz the orange at the top represents light and shows best how freedom feels like- from darkness into light.

36. Fabric Selection Week 13

I bought some fabrics from spotlight this afternoon for tomorrow's digital printing session. We need the prints to work!!! Ahhh..

41. Dress Toile

I've sewn a basic dress with bust and waist darts, then incorporated a circular skirt which I thought was going to be a great look to go with my theme but it turned out more sixties party dress as it was really short and I hated the darts which makes one feel like they need boobage to fill up the space in the dress. It's difficult when you think you've made a perfect pattern and it turns out a mess when its put together. However, what I thought was a good look was the skirt cut on bias. I am going to work on my paper patterns.

tried using tracing paper which turned out a disaster as it's more stuff than I had thought it to be and every bit of sticky tape could be seen through the paper.

I've made my paper sculpted dress from yupo paper which has a really smooth texture and is water-proof! (which is an important factor to consider when having to bring it to school for assessment during these heavy rainy days..) The dress was fairly easy to construct, although it got a little messy at the darts where I was trying to match the lines up as well the the waist area. The sculpture stands well on it own for eternity if we leave it alone.

I think this has represented the construction of my final dress but doesn't serve well in conveying the feel of the dress as it's really delicate while this is so structured. I'm not afraid it'll get squashed .. It's really boxy.

I chose this design as it is about mid-thigh in length and the print is quite huge so legs will balance a girl's figure as opposed to a lengthy dress which might make this piece have a shortening effect on the wearer. The darts at the shoulder have been move closer to the armhole, which highlights on the upper chest area- of nice shoulders and collar bones.
